Huw Edwards
Since April 2006, Edwards has offered the newly established BBC News at Five on the 24-hour BBC News channel. On 29 April 2011 he presented the BBC coverage of the Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. The coverage was watched by 20 million viewers at peak in the United Kingdom and the group received a BAFTA Award for Best Coverage of a Live Event. In June 2012 he presented the BBC protection of the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II. In December 2013 he led the primary few hours of BBC News coverage of the dying of Nelson Mandela on BBC One, BBC News Channel and BBC World News. In 2014 Edwards presented BBC Local Elections taking on coverage from David Dimbleby.
He led the BBC commentary group on the opening and shutting ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2012 London Olympics and 2014 Commonwealth Games. He has presented a number of election specials, together with coverage of the 2007 National Assembly for Wales election for BBC Wales and also the BBC coverage of the United States elections, 2008 results and the inauguration of Barack Obama. He was formerly Chief Political Correspondent for BBC News, and spent greater than 14 years reporting politics from Westminster across a range of BBC programmes. Edwards presented the BBC’s protection of major nationwide events, including the marriage of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

After earning degrees from Cardiff University and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Huw first labored with Swansea Sound, before becoming a member of the BBC as a news trainee in 1984. Huw grew to become the principle presenter of the Ten O’Clock News on BBC One in 2003, and BBC News at Five in 2006. Aside from his journalistic roles, Huw has hosted numerous occasions, including the BAFTA Cymru award ceremonies. Huw himself has obtained several BAFTAs, together with 2010 Best Screen Presenter for his documentary, The Prince and the Plotter. He had additionally carried out opera and orchestras throughout Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He has been invited to talk on the American Symphony Orchestra League conference in Boston and assisted with the organisation’s “Meet for the Millennium” project. Edwards has been conducting since age seventeen when he became music director of the Maidstone Opera Company in England, a place he held for six years. Edwards attended the University of Surrey, the place he conducted the college orchestra together with an ensemble that he shaped himself. He won a conducting competition in 1988 which sent him to Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas at twenty-three years old.

The 1998–1999 season included performances in Salem, Newberg, Welches, St. Helens, and Milwaukie and Longview, Washington in addition to the regular subscription collection. On 10 February 1999 the orchestra opened a Portland Trail Blazers game on the Rose Garden performing The Star-Spangled Banner.
